"Guidelines for Neuropsychological Interventions During Brain Computer Interface Clinical Trials"

Brain Computer Interface (BCI) studies are highly invasive and the potential to revolutionize functional ability after stroke, amputation, and spinal cord injury. However, little is known on the short and long term emotional, cognitive, and psychosocial impacts of BCI clinical trial participation. This presentation will explore assessment approaches and recommendations for monitoring psychological aspects of BCI participation.

"Barriers and Facilitators of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis for HIV in Sexual and Gender Minorities: A Patient, Caregiver, and Provider Perspective"

According to the CDC, in 2019, 1 in 5 cases of newly diagnosed HIV cases happened in adolescents ages 13-24. Within this group, sexual and gender minority (SGM, i.e., lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning) youth are disproportionally affected. These high rates of newly acquired HIV are occurring despite pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) being available since 2018. SGM youth uptake of PrEP remains low at 20% compared to 30% in at-risk adults. With this in mind, we conducted semi-structured interviews with SGM youth, caregivers of SGM youth, and pediatric providers to identify attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors that may be barriers or facilitators of PrEP uptake for HIV prevention in SGM youth.

"Black Fathers in Maternal Health"

Black maternal morbidity and mortality is an extreme and growing concern. Adverse maternal outcomes for Black women affect not only women, but also their families and communities, especially fathers. One understudied area and knowledge gap is on the role of fathers, including Black fathers in the perinatal period and birth experience. More research is needed on the role of Black fathers in the perinatal period.
